The three-time Pro Bowler has found a new home with the Los Angeles Rams, and it’s paying off handsomely. OBJ’s abrupt escape from Cleveland is likely to have salvaged his career in the NFL.

The Browns didn’t have an issue with Odell Beckham Jr.

The 2021 Cleveland Browns season was akin to a soap opera, with lots of drama. Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. were caught in the center of it all.

Beckham and Mayfield played together for two and a half seasons in Cleveland but were unable to form a lasting bond. In 2019, OBJ has 74 catches for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns. However, it was their high point, and they never came close to matching those figures again.

Since his time with the New York Giants, Beckham has been an outspoken player. He became dissatisfied with his Browns job, and everything came to a head in 2021. As a consequence, the dissatisfied wide receiver was dismissed by Cleveland.

The Los Angeles Rams leaped at the chance to grab Beckham after he passed waivers. While the divorce seemed to be the greatest option for all parties concerned, the early results appear to be in favor of OBJ.

Baker Mayfield and the Browns had a poor 8-9 record this season. Despite seeming to be a preseason contender on paper, they were unable to make the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Rams’ Odell Beckham Jr. is on his way to the NFC Championship game.

With Matthew Stafford instead of Baker Mayfield, OBJ is blossoming.

Whatever you think of Odell Beckham Jr., he’s still got some gas in the tank. As the Los Angeles Rams make a run at the Super Bowl, he continues to demonstrate that.

In six games with the Cleveland Browns in 2021, Beckham caught only 17 catches for 232 yards and zero touchdowns. In eight regular-season games with the Rams, he had 27 catches for 305 yards and five touchdowns.

The LSU product landed in Los Angeles at at the right moment. No one expected Robert Woods to rupture his ACL in practice, but OBJ has filled in beautifully.

In the NFL playoffs, Beckham has been a key component of Sean McVay’s attack. In the Wild Card and Divisional Rounds combined, he caught 10 receptions for 123 yards and one score. While they aren’t exactly eye-popping figures, his effect has been considerably more than simply statistics.

OBJ hasn’t played with Matthew Stafford for very long, but the relationship between them seems to be more natural than with Baker Mayfield. The eighth-year wideout is paired with Cooper Kupp, who is enjoying a career-best year. Stafford, on the other hand, makes a concerted attempt to provide Beckham some much-needed touches.

Odell Beckham Jr. bought into the all-in Rams’ pitch, and it’s changed his career trajectory dramatically.

“It’s been a fantastic match,” he told Chris Simms of NBC Sports. “It has genuinely enabled me to be successful and desire to be successful.”

The revival of the Rams’ wide receiver is a breath of fresh air in the NFL.

In his first three seasons with the New York Giants, Odell Beckham Jr. was unstoppable. From 2014 through 2016, the former AP Rookie of the Year with 288 catches, 4,122 receiving yards, and 35 touchdowns.

SportsCenter and highlight reels For OBJ, top-ten catches became the norm. Beckham came back from a season-ending injury in 2017 with two straight 1,000-yard seasons. Despite this, general manager Dave Gettleman felt secure enough in his decision to deal his best receiver to the Browns.

On paper, OBJ in Cleveland looked like a fantastic match, but things didn’t go as planned. With the Rams, he’s been a perfect match. It also helps that LA has a strong coaching staff and front office, as well as a proven veteran quarterback.

Beckham’s stars are finally aligning for him. He’s not the same player he was with the Giants at 29 years old. His rise, on the other hand, has most certainly opened opportunities that would not have been feasible in Cleveland. Odell Beckham Jr. would feel vindicated if he could help the Los Angeles Rams reach the Super Bowl.

The Rams, as well as the NFL, benefit from OBJ’s recent success. He’s one of the game’s most physically talented pass catchers ever. Everyone benefits from being relevant for the right reasons.
