The next-generation Grand Cherokee will be here soon, and it won’t be a sedan. Rather, the Grand Cherokee will be a luxury-oriented SUV offered in three body styles—two-door, four-door, and a more extreme and capable off-road-oriented model.

Jeep did a good job with the 2018 Grand Cherokee, but was it enough? If you know anything about the Jeep brand, you know that there is a world of difference between the Grand Cherokee SRT and the Grand Cherokee—which is why the latter two names were deemed unnecessary in the first place. So, Jeep has decided to eliminate the two most confusing models of the Grand Cherokee lineup, and replace them with a single model that will be known as the Grand Cherokee.

The new Grand Cherokee is a 5.9-liter V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive luxury SUV (formerly the Grand Wagoneer) that will likely be sold in the same trim levels and with the same powertrains currently on offer as today’s model.

The standard Grand Cherokee is a decent Jeep SUV, but it often falls short of some of its rivals in the same class. It’s the lack of space in the third row of seats. However, with the release of the three-row 2021 Grand Cherokee L, this problem has been solved. But the new SUV is more than just a new row of seats.

More space and extra seating aren’t the only things the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lhas to offer.

word-image-10394 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve | Stellantis The Jeep Grand Cherokee L and two-row version will get a new platform in 2021. And to accommodate the extra seats, the first model gets a longer wheelbase version. It’s also longer and offers more rear cargo space. In addition, the seats in the third row are available as a bench or as a captain’s chair, so that the SUV can accommodate six or seven passengers. These passengers will also appreciate the new interior space offered by both 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Even the $39,720 Laredo 4×2 package comes with a 10.3-inch digital dashboard and an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning and automatic emergency braking are also standard equipment. However, if you want amenities like heated front seats, a power tailgate, and a 115-volt outlet, you’ll need to purchase the Lux Tech Group package. Or you can opt for the Altitude 4×2 model for $42,285. If you want a more luxurious experience with the 2021 Grand Cherokee L, these are available. However, this comes at a price. The following equipment levels, in ascending order of price, are 4×2 :

  • 46,340 Limited
  • 53,340 Overland
  • 57,340 Top

word-image-10395 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland with off-road package rear 3/4 | Stellantis The extra length of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L means its handling is slightly worse than that of the two-row model, MT notes. But the air suspension mitigates much of that loss, offering up to 10.9 inches of ground clearance, reports Car and Driver. And if you equip the Overland with the optional Off-Road package, it gets non-slip pads and off-road tires. There is also an optional low angle camera for obstacle detection. All this together makes the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L an impressive SUV. It’s not quite on the level of a Wrangler or a Gladiator, but it’s just like them, writes Car and Driver. The air suspension provides plenty of agility and the multi-mode traction control steers well. In addition, the descent control also works in reverse, Roadshow said. But if you’re really going off the paved road, the general consensus is that it’s best to buy brake plates. In short, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L can go further off-road than $60,000 SUV owners, MT writes.

Does it work like a luxury SUV on the road?

But it’s not just off-road that the 2021 Grand Cherokee L can and will go. But a three-row Jeep SUV can also do well on the road. Even the Laredo with the standard steel springs offers a refined and comfortable ride, MT reports. This is thanks to a stiffer chassis and a new suspension design. The 2021 Grand Cherokee L also has stronger brakes for shorter stopping distances and better brake pedal feel. And regardless of upholstery, all seats are comfortable. Although the Summit and Summit Reserve versions are expensive, Roadshow says the quality of the interior materials is top notch. The downside? According to MT, tall passengers in the third row may have to move the seats in the second row slightly forward. And although the Grand Cherokee L V8 can tow up to 7,200 kg, it doesn’t have a built-in trailer brake controller. The SUV’s blind spot monitoring system doesn’t fit the trailer either. But overall, the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L does justice to its brand and reputation. Follow MotorBiscuit for updates on our Facebook page. Frequently Asked Questions

Does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee have heads up display?

The Jeep is a brand that has been around for years and years. The upscale Cherokee was first launched in 1993 and the SUV has been a strong competitor on the market ever since. The Grand Cherokee has been modified in numerous ways over the years. It has been used as a race car, a pickup truck and it has been a SUV with four doors. But it seems that the Grand Cherokee is going through a major change in the near future and it is planning to get a new head-up display that will definitely be a game changer. Last week we wrote that we think the new Jeep Grand Cherokee will get a heads-up display. But that might not be the case. The Jeep brand has a long history of putting heads-up displays on its SUVs, and many have speculated that the next Grand Cherokee could be a 2021 model. But a few are speculating that the company will once again change its plans. The problem is that Jeep brand CEO Mike Manley has been very careful about his statements about what he has planned for the brand.

Will there be a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

My grandfather was a disabled veteran (WWII) who, for decades, drove a 2001 Grand Cherokee L. He loved that car, and it was well-loved by my dad. In 2011, it was the last year for the L and I remember my dad looking at the new model and saying “I’m not buying a Jeep that size.” For him, it was too big, too heavy, too expensive, and he didn’t need the extra safety features. So, why would he want a new car that promised the same size and features, but also included a more modern driver-assistance package? Few people who enjoy driving will deny that the current Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the best driving machines on the market, with an interior design that combines comfort and practicality with a definite sports car feel. This is why it comes as no surprise that the 2021 Grand Cherokee carries on this tradition, and even improves upon it in some ways.

Where is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee built?

You know that little plastic badge on the door of your car that says “Jeep” on it? That’s the seal of quality. It’s the badge that indicates a product was built to meet or exceed all of the requirements that come with the Jeep badge. To get this badge, though, a car has to be built to a certain set of standards. After the model change in 2018, we are now into year five of the Grand Cherokee’s current generation. Since then, the current-generation model has been refreshed, but it still has the basic design and features of the original. The changes that have been made over the years have been mostly evolutionary, and an updated model every 5-6 years is expected.
