The NFL is a cold business, and one that relies on contracts for its players. The only way to get out of your contract early with the NFL is if you are released by both teams or retire from football altogether. JuJu Smith-Schuster has been able to sign with another employer because his 2018 season was cut short due to injury.

JuJu Smith-Schuster is currently on the Steelers, but he could be in a position to join forces with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. The Steelers WR made a $8 million mistake that could compel him to leave his current team.

The Chiefs already have one of the most potent attacks in the league. Even so, they’ll almost certainly want to come back stronger in 2022. JuJu Smith-Schuster, a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, might be on the team’s radar once again. In the 2021 offseason, the Pro Bowler chose loyalty over money, but he may change his mind and team up with Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs are allegedly interested in signing JuJu Smith-Schuster.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were JuJu Smith-home Schuster’s for the first five years of his NFL career. He will, however, become an unrestricted free agent again in 2022, and might be seeking for a new team.

According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, Smith-Schuster would seriously consider joining the Kansas City Chiefs if mutual interest existed.

In the offseason of 2021, the Chiefs made a shot at the USC product. Smith-Schuster, on the other hand, turned down offers from the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens to return to the Steelers.

“Smith-Schuster was recruited a year ago by Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who gave him photographs of the Lombardi Trophy,” Wilson added.

Kansas City, on the other hand, might be in contention for another Super Bowl in 2021. Every year, Patrick Mahomes and his teammates are in the mix. After a couple of bad years in Pittsburgh, it’s not surprising to see the 25-year-old wideout prioritize winning.

Re-signing with Pittsburgh was a mistake for the 25-year-old.

In the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers picked JuJu Smith-Schuster with the 62nd overall choice. The Long Beach, California native was given his first opportunity at the next level by the organization. The fifth-year wide receiver seems to believe he owed the team some loyalty.

The AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs also made strong bids for the Pro Bowl receiver. Despite lucrative offers, neither club was able to lure him away from the Steelers.

Smith-Schuster re-signed with Pittsburgh for the 2021 season, inking a one-year $8 million deal. In an interview with NFL Network’s Taylor Bisciotti, the wideout admitted that he took less money to re-up with the Steelers.

Smith-Schuster said, “What they had on the table was probably my third lowest offer.” “However, in the long run, this is where I envision myself.” Obviously, Ben will return. That’s extremely fantastic, in my opinion. It’s going to be a terrific year because I get to play with him one more year, and I get to play with my guys.”

JuJu Smith-Schuster only appeared in five games in 2021 due to a shoulder injury that ended his season. He has a total of 15 receptions for 129 yards and no touchdowns.

Aside from the injury, he didn’t have a lot of impact in the five games he did play. Smith-Schuster is no longer Pittsburgh’s No. 1 (or perhaps No. 2) option. In 2022, catching passes from Mason Rudolph or Dwayne Haskins Jr. does not seem to be a viable option, so a change of scenery may be beneficial.

The Steelers WR might flourish in Patrick Mahomes’ offense.

When Antonio Brown departed, the Steelers expected JuJu Smith-Schuster to move into the No. 1 wide receiver job. It’s OK if he isn’t that person. Still, he’s just 25 years old and has a long career ahead of him in football. The former USC Trojans star should look for a place that would make the most of his abilities.

Patrick Mahomes is the NFL’s most talented quarterback right now, and he’s on his way to becoming an all-time great. While he does play with some elite talent, Mahomes significantly improves the guys around him.

Andy Reid’s method may be ideal for Smith-Schuster. For one thing, he won’t be under the burden of being the best choice. Depending on the game, the honor goes to either Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce. On most teams, the Steelers wideout can be a good No. 2 or No. 3 option.

Smith-Schuster would provide something different than Mecole Hardman, the speedster. In short-yardage and red-zone situations, he’s a dependable big-bodied pass-catcher who can cause difficulties for defenders.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs should embrace him with wide arms if he’s ready to leave Pittsburgh.
