The MG Astor is a premium mid-sized SUV, with an impressive set of features to match. Powered by the acclaimed and powerful M-Oh! 1.2-liter EcoDiesel engine, the car comes loaded with an impressive set of safety and driver assistance features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Trace Assist, Speed Levitation, Blind Spot Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, etc. In addition, the exciting level 2 autonomous driving technology is also expected to be introduced soon with a Level 2 Autonomous Driving mode and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
The MG Astor SUV has been launched in India with the first ever AI Assistant in India known as “Alfa”. The SUV also has the first ever autonomous driving technology in the country. The SUV uses the Level 2 autonomous technology that gives the driver the option to switch the system into “High” mode, which is where the vehicle drives itself at speeds of around 25-40km/hr under certain conditions. The SUV has the ability to come to a complete stop and resume its journey.
MG Motor India today revealed the industry’s first personal AI assistant and segment-first Autonomous Level 2 technology, which will be included in the company’s forthcoming mid-size SUV, the Astor. MG wants to expand its auto-tech emphasis by using the Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) idea of possibilities and services.
MG is experimenting with new technologies like as artificial intelligence (AI) to allow the creation and deployment of services and subscriptions to meet consumers’ “on-demand in-car” requirements. Astor is the first vehicle in the company’s worldwide range to get a personal AI assistant.
The personal AI assistant is designed by the acclaimed American firm ‘Star Design’. It depicts human-like emotions & voices and can give detailed information on every topic through Wikipedia. It will engage with people in the car and is powered by i-Smart Hub. It is a platform on which the partnerships, services, and subscriptions of CAAP will reside. It will allow customers to personalize their set of services.
Mr. Rajeev Chaba, President and MD, MG Motor India, stated of India’s first personal AI assistant and the first-in-segment Autonomous Level 2 vehicle Astor, “As an auto-tech brand, we’ve always launched breakthrough technology, and now, we’re going ahead with Artificial Intelligence.” With first-in-industry and best-in-class features that consumers can only receive in premium/luxury sectors, Astor goes a step further and becomes a catalyst for change. Our cars will continue to offer a better and safer driving experience by using AI, thanks to a persistent pursuit of innovation and software at the core of production.”
Mid-range radars and a multi-purpose camera power the Autonomous Level 2 MG Astor, which can implement a variety of sophisticated driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist (RDA), and Speed Assist System are just a few of the features available. These features have been further tuned for Indian traffic circumstances, and they may substantially enhance driving safety and comfort.
Raytheon Sentinel, an airborne combat and ground surveillance aircraft previously used by the Royal Air Force (RAF), UK, inspired the name Astor. MG Astor sells MG’s famous ZS platform in countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Norway, the Netherlands, and several Asian nations.
For the first time in India, MG just demonstrated CAAP’s limitless potential. It contains subscriptions and services, including MapMyIndia maps and navigation, Jio connection, the first-of-its-kind Blockchain-protected vehicle digital passport by KoineArth, and more, to create an ecosystem of different in-car services. Owners of MG cars will also get access to music through the JioSaavn app, as well as the industry-first function of booking a parking spot via the car’s head unit (powered by Park+ – initially in certain locations). CAAP will open up a variety of options that will develop over time, resulting in a safer and more intelligent driving experience.
TEASED BY MG ASTOR DESIGN
The Bold Celestial Grille on the Astor is inspired by cosmic lines and shapes, and it adds energy to the car’s front end. The center of the whole front face is concentrated by the radial design. The tungsten steel electroplated substance resembles the sun in appearance. Each flashing cell’s three-dimensional impact is enhanced by the contrast of light and dark. The distinctive ‘Dual Tone Sangria Red’ inside of the Astor, which is one of three interior themes, represents state-of-the-art workmanship, was also unveiled by the British carmaker.
