Simmons, the former franchise quarterback for the Philadelphia 76ers, is still missing from the club, and the most probable outcome is that he will be moved somewhere. However, there’s a new swell in the water today, as a team that usually makes the playoffs may suddenly be playing the tank game.

As the 76ers continue their search for a trade partner for Simmons, the Pacers seem to be an intriguing option for the dissatisfied (to put it kindly) point guard.
In terms of chemistry with Joel Embiid, LeVert is the best of the three options. The 76ers need a guard who can generate his own shot and relieve some of JoJo’s workload – LeVert isn’t Damian Lillard, but he’s capable of doing so when healthy.
Turner is a gifted center who, with his ability to spread the floor and defend the rim, is suited for the current NBA. Putting him with Embiid isn’t the worst option, but it’s also not the best.
That leads us to Sabonis. Putting another big guy next to Embiid isn’t the most sensible approach on the surface. The 25-year-old power forward, on the other hand, isn’t your normal back-to-basket guy.
Sabonis’ greatest offensive position is at the elbows and in the mid-range. For someone who is 6-foot-11 and weighs 240 pounds, he is an advanced facilitator. Consider a low-cost Nikola Jokic.
He could play alongside Embiid and assist the rest of the offense in buzzing around the Sixers’ franchise center. With the Cameroonian off the court, he’d be excellent for leading the second unit, which may be vital given the 7-footer’s injury history.
On the other hand, if the Pacers are in the midst of a thorough rebuild, Simmons would provide a focal point for the club. In Rick Carlisle’s system, Big Ben would be flanked by shooters like Malcolm Brogdon and Chris Duarte.
When healthy and engaged, the former LSU standout is among the NBA’s best two dozen players. It seems like a reasonable deal to hand him over in exchange for the duo of LeVert and Sabonis, maybe with some future selections sent either way.
Both franchises would benefit from the agreement.

The Sixers’ core would now consist of Embiid, Sabonis, LeVert, Tyrese Maxey, Seth Curry, Matisse Thybulle, and Tobias Harris, with Embiid, Sabonis, LeVert, Tyrese Maxey, Tyrese Maxey, Seth Curry, Matisse Thybulle, and Tobias Harris. There are also some depth pieces to round out the rotation.
The Pacers would be able to let Simmons to do what he does best: make plays and defend.
Carlisle, who has been one of the league’s best offensive coaches for more than a decade, would have a 6-10 point guard leading an offense that includes five rotation players who shoot better than 34% from 3-point range and a sixth in Brogdon, who, despite having a down season, is a career 37.9% 3-point shooter.
The chemistry is there, and the Pacers are on the verge of rebuilding, so a trade is a possibility. It’s a win-win situation for both parties.
It’s now simply a matter of figuring out the logistics and getting it done.
