In the second episode of Game Of Thrones, King Viserys Targaryen is a frazzled man who speaks only in threats. He has captured Aeryn Sun and murdered her father, but she refuses to bow before him. She pleads with one last request: “Kill me like you killed my mother”
This scene inspired Paddy Considine’s mum to tell him about how his grandfather was killed by an animal – because he didn’t know that animals were sentient beings

The “house of dragon cast” is a British drama film that was released in 2016. The film is based on the true story of King Viserys Targaryen and his mother, Queen Rhaella Targaryen. This article will discuss how Paddy Considine’s mum inspired this film.

Paddy Considine, who plays King Viserys in the Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, has admitted that his mother influenced his acting.

The new HBO series will premiere later this year, bringing fans to a whole new cast of characters, including a slew of Targaryens in their prime in a story set 300 years before the original series.

Paddy Considine stars as King Viserys I Targaryen, a ‘kind, gentle, and honest guy,’ with Matt Smith as his younger brother, Prince Daemon Targaryen, and Emma D’Arcy as his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

The actor also said that it was crucial to ‘be empathetic’ and ‘just play the person’ while portraying the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, adding, ‘And when I played Viserys Targaryen, I just played my mother, you know.’ My mum was the character I portrayed.’

The 48-year-old told The Independent that his mother was “an anchor” for him.

‘I was a huge fan of hers. But she was a lady who grew very, very ill,’ he said, recalling how she developed diabetes and lost sight in both eyes and both legs.

‘She was in a dreadful, dreadful situation.’ But I believe she disguised her sickness, which made things worse for her. And it was a lot of work for us and everyone else to look after her, when she needed to look after herself as well,’ he said.

‘And that’s exactly what this guy does, you know… he becomes sick and hides in his ailment.’

He went on to say that King Viserys has his mother’s ‘passion and love for the people nearest to him,’ lavishing attention on his grandkids in the series, which isn’t something that happens very frequently in the fantasy saga.

Paddy discovered that doing so gave the character ‘humanity,’ adding, ‘I basically used my mother as the pattern.’

George RR Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series on which Game of Thrones is based, teased viewers in February when he said he was ‘loving’ what he’d seen of House of the Dragon thus far.

‘I’ve seen rough edits of a couple [episodes] and I’m really enjoying them,’ he remarked.

‘Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done. All post-production work, including special effects, color timing, and soundtrack.’

House of the Dragon will air on Sky Atlantic and the NOW streaming service on August 22.
