Grace Kinstler came in third place on season 19 of ABC’s “American Idol.” Since then, the young singer-songwriter has been working on her songs and reflecting on the constructive feedback she got during her time on the program.

Kinstler reflected on her experience on “American Idol” in a recent Instagram post, saying that judge Katy Perry encouraged her to figure out who she wanted to be as an artist.

Perry told Kinstler after she performed the song “Happy,” “I’m just thinking about what type of album you’re going to create.” “I know it’ll sound great, but who are you as a musician?” “You may sing anything you want, but what are you going to say?”

“It got me thinking… and it made me extremely eager for when I could release original music after the performance,” Kinstler captioned that portion of the video.

Kinstler expressed gratitude to Perry for his constructive criticism.

“Y’all requested for some sneak peaks, so here you go!” Kinstler said in the caption of the photo. Leave your thoughts in the comments section. Thank you for the helpful feedback, @katyperry.”

“When I’m falling… sweet sanity is all I need,” Kinstler says in the video, referring to a forthcoming song. Is it possible for you to hear me calling? Your pleasant relief makes me feel at ease.”

With lots of sustained upper notes and a pop-song feel, the tune seems to showcase Kinstler’s vocal ability.

Willie Spence, the runner-up on season 19 of “American Idol,” lent his support to Kinstler.

In the comments, he simply said, “Yes yes yes.”

Alyssa Wray, another season 19 competitor, backed her up, writing, “You’re simply everything.”

After her time on ‘American Idol,’ Kinstler relocated to Los Angeles.

Kinstler relocated to Los Angeles after the “American Idol” finals, which she documented with a series of pictures on Instagram.

She captioned the second batch of photos, “LA is so lovely.” “Swipe to view the stunning @silentzoostudios where I had the pleasure of recording yesterday!”

Kinstler said in a July 2021 interview with Music Mayhem that her first album would be released shortly, but no date has been specified.

“I do have a lot of it written, and the co-writes that I’ve set up right now are just to polish and go over the things that I’ve written,” she told the source. “It’s with someone who I trust and who’s gone [through it], and he’s had some of the trials ups and downs.”

“And so I believe he’ll just have an incredible perspective to bring to the music,” Kinstler said, “and he’ll help me view it in a new light and just help me produce the best product.”

She wants to release the album “when the iron is hot” and before she “fades into the background,” but she doesn’t want it to seem hurried.

If Kinstler’s sneak look is any indication, the album must be farther along in the production process.

Season 20 of “American Idol” will premiere in early 2022.
