Three is the “magic” number. It can represent any numerical quantity, including fractions of a whole or parts of the human body (fingers and toes). Here are 10 three-digit numbers that have contributed to our culture in countless ways throughout history.

The “top 10 3-point shooters of all time” is a list that ranks the best three-point shooters in NBA history.

10-Greatest-Three

It aroused some ire when Karl-Anthony Towns labeled himself the best big man shooter of all time. With that considered, Towns’ accomplishments in his short career are also outstanding. When it comes to three-point field goals, there’s a reason why not many big forwards or centers are among the best scorers. They are classified as post players rather than pure shooters because of their height and stature.

Basketball, on the other hand, has evolved into a positionless sport. Players with bigger frames are being challenged to develop an outside shot in greater numbers. Some gamers had already been doing this prior to the revolution. Was it at a high volume, as it is now? No, but they were still operating at a high level for their time.

Towns has always been one of the finest shooting ranges we’ve seen, but is he the best? He’ll be up against some other generational talent. The top ten finest big man shooters, with a height of at least 6-foot-11, are listed below.

Special Mention

Al Horford is a basketball player who plays for the Atlanta

601-1,678 3-point FG, 35.8% 3PT FG

Horford needed to update his game in order to remain in the league. Members of his 2006 Florida National Championship squad, like as Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah, are no longer in the NBA. Horford’s ability to adapt from a typical big to a good shooter has allowed him to stay a productive NBA player.

Horford hit 10 three-pointers in his first seven years on the court. He started to shoot more from outside during his ninth season, when he hit 11 three-pointers. That includes a 42.9 percent three-point shooting percentage in the 2017-2018 season. Horford has entered the top 300 three-point shooters of all time (299).

Lauri Markkanen is number ten on the list.

610-1,683 3PT FG, 36.2 percent 3PT FG, 36.2 percent 3PT FG, 36.2 percent 3PT FG, 36.2

Markkanen is one of the finest big-man shooters we’ve ever seen at the age of 25. He has over 600 three-pointers in his career and is in his sixth season in the league. He might see his stock climb on this list by next year. If he stays healthy, he’ll have over 1,000 three-pointers by the age of 30, which would put him ahead of several of the guys on this list.

While many people have commented on his progress, we understand. He started his rookie season with 145 three-pointers and hasn’t been able to surpass that since. Give him some time in Cleveland to grow with a new coach. In his last season with the Bulls, he shot over 40% from beyond the arc, indicating that he has the ability. He’s now 294th all-time in three-point field goals made.

Andrea Bargnani (nine)

627-1,771 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 35.4 percent 3

Hoops Habit is to thank for this.

When Bargnani initially joined the league, he was courted in the same way that Kristaps Porzingis was. He was a 7-footer who could both pound the rock and shoot from the outside. In three of his first four seasons, he made more than 100 three-pointers. During the 2009-2010 season, there were 121.

After that year, Bargnani shot 77 three-pointers in a season and never reached that level again. After the 2015-2016 season, he retired at the age of 30. He may have been a fantastic player, but we’ll never know for sure. He was, nevertheless, a solid shot for a large guy in his prime.

Brook Lopez (nine)

642-1,886 3 point field goal, 34.0 percent 3 point field goal

Lopez, like Horford, had to modify his game in order to stay relevant in the NBA. Lopez was a painter that had a lot of success. After all, that was how he became the Brooklyn Nets’ all-time leading scorer. As a result, the three-point arc grew more common, forcing Lopez to alter his style of play.

Lopez made three 3-pointers in each of his first eight seasons on the court. We started to see the shift in his last season in Brooklyn, when he hit 134 three-pointers. After that, he spent a season with the Lakers, where he continued to shoot. His finest season came with the Bucks, when he hit 187 three-pointers in his first season. His ability to spread the floor has helped the Bucks stretch the floor and has given his teammates, particularly Giannis Antetokounmpo, a whole new universe to explore. Lopez has 274 career three-point field goals, which places him 274th all-time.

Charlie Villanueva (#7)

34.1 percent 3PT FG, 716-2,101 3PT FG

1648675041_561_10-Greatest-Three

Despite his 6-foot-11 stature, Villanueva has never had a problem shooting the ball over the last ten years. He spent his whole career shooting long balls. In 2010-2011, he had his greatest season, making 125 three-pointers. It was his only season in which he made more than 100 points.

Villanueva, who was 31 at the time, retired from the league following the 2015-2016 season. It’s not unreasonable to believe he might have concluded his career with more than 1,000 points if he had remained in the league for longer. In three-point field goals, Villanueva is ranked 235th all-time.

Kelly Olynyk, No. 6

36.5 percent 3PT percent 731-2,003 3PT FG

1628048278_260_NBA-Free-Agency-Grades-Mike-Conley-Chris-Paul-And-Lonzo

Olynyk seems to have been in the league for a long time, although he is just 30 years old. At Villanueva, he has a similar career path, although he seems to stay in the league for a little longer. He’s also had a couple stronger seasons, most notably with the Heat in 2018-2019, when he shot over 40% from three-point range.

Three times in his career, Olynyk has made more than 100 three-point field goals in a season. His most recent appearance was last season, when he split time between the Heat and the Rockets. In three-point field goals, Olynyk is 225th all-time.

Rasheed Wallace is number five.

33.6 3PT FG, 1,086-3,228 3PT FG

Wallace was in the league from 1995 to 2013, thus you may get some shots after a time. Wallace, on the other hand, turned into an outside shooter in the second part of his career. He was regularly around 35 percent throughout the seasons when he shot at a greater rate.

Wallace made more than 100 three-pointers seven times in his career. From 2006 through 2009, he shot over 100 threes four times in a row, including 155 during an All-Star season in 2006. He was able to knock down 82 in a season at the age of 35, which helped him stay in the league. Wallace has a career high of 110 three-point field goals.

4. Mehmet Okur (Mehmet Okur)

596-1,590 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 37.5 percent 3

1648675043_109_10-Greatest-Three

Okur is given more credit for what he accomplished in a shorter amount of time. In ten seasons, Okur made approximately 600 three-point field goals. At the age of 32, he retired from the league. We would have seen him finish with a higher volume if he had remained longer. Okur was particularly adept at hitting his shots, with a high proportion of 7-footers converting.

Okur has made more than 100 three-pointers in a season twice in his career, the most recent of which was in the 2006-2007 season. During his lone All-Star appearance, he hit 129 three-pointers. From 2007 to 2010, Okur had a four-year streak in which he shot at least 38 percent from outside for four consecutive seasons.

Channing Frye is number three on the list.

1,049-2,706 3-point FG, 38.8% 3PT FG

1648675045_766_10-Greatest-Three

Frye was never an All-Star, but he was a tremendously underestimated talent at the time. Frye was a 7-footer who knocked down trees at a significant rate from 2005 to 2018. Frye made 1.2 three-point field goals out of 3.0 tries in his career. At seven feet tall, that’s not bad for a stretch power forward who would generally be labeled a center.

Frye has hit over 100 three-pointers in a season five times, including a career-high 172 with the Suns in 2009-2010. He never shot fewer than 37 percent in his five years. In terms of three-point field goals, Frye is 121st all-time. In these rankings, he beats out Wallace and Okur for efficiency and quantity.

Towns, Karl-Anthony

768-1,935 3PT FG, or 39.7% 3PT FG

You have to witness what Towns is doing every night to realize that this is absolute excellence. This is the first time we’ve ever seen a center shot like this. In his debut season, Towns only made 30 three-pointers. Then he evolved into a real contemporary basketball player. In five consecutive seasons, he has made over 100 three-pointers. This includes over 40 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Steph Curry isn’t meant to take as many long pointers as the center. In 35 games played in 2019-2020, he averaged 3.3 deep balls per game. In the previous three seasons, that figure has remained over 2.0. He may not be the greatest shooting big man of all time, but he is trying his hardest to become one.

1. Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas Mavericks)

38.0 percent 3PT FG, 1,982-5,210 3PT FG

For the time being, Nowitzki is the best big-man shooter in history. With his height, Nowitzki was able to do so much that he may be credited with reinventing the current game. He almost hit 2,000 career threes towards the end of his career. He is 13th all-time in made three-point field goals despite his 6-foot-11 stature. He had more threes than Joe Johnson and JJ Reddick towards the end of his career, and just six more majors than Jason Kidd.

Nine times in his career, Nowitzki has made more over 100 three-pointers in a season. He also hit the 40 percent mark five times from three-point range. He may have been a classic large with his height and bulk. He wasn’t, and what makes this more more significant is that he was doing it in a period when dominating centers were still favored over outside shots. Back in the day, Nowitzki was the Steph Curry of big guys, and he still deserves to be called the greatest in 2022.
